Wandsworth Primary Play Association

General Information About WPPA

WPPA has many years experience providing a service to Group, children and parents for over 40 years in the Borough of Wandsworth. This experience includes keeping abreast of current trends and adapting both our services to meet local needs, and also in advising Groups of ways to adapt to meet needs...

It was established in 1963 and is funded by Wandsworth Council for its central administration as well as monies for individual playgroups and parent/carer & toddler groups. WPPA then distributes this funding to member groups through an annual grant application process. WPPA also liaises with Wandsworth Council with regard to the administration of the nursery education grants on behalf of our member groups.

All of our groups are registered with the local authority and comply with the Children Act 1989.

We believe that the most important aim of the groups is to advance education and development of children and to encourage parents and carers to understand and provide for the needs of their children.

We aim to provide appropriate play facilities together with the opportunity for parents and carers to take responsibility for, and to become involved in such activities.

We encourage appropriate training for the achievement of these aims.

A child who is happy and secure displays confidence and independence. Children are treated with respect by the staff and are taught to respect others.

WPPA is an educational charity which is a company limited by guarantee.
